Porsche 930

The Porsche 930, also known as the Porsche 911 Turbo, was a sports car produced by the German automaker Porsche from 1975 to 1989. The 930 was the first turbocharged model in Porsche's 911 lineup, and it quickly gained a reputation as a high-performance, top-of-the-line sports car.

The design of the Porsche 930 was heavily influenced by the Porsche 911 Carrera RS, with its iconic wide-body design and distinctive rear spoiler. The car was powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six engine, producing around 260 horsepower in its early models. This gave the 930 impressive performance figures, with a 0-60 mph time of just 5.2 seconds and a top speed of over 150 mph.

The 930 quickly gained a reputation as a "widow-maker" due to its powerful turbocharged engine and rear-engine layout, which could catch out inexperienced drivers and lead to oversteer. Porsche addressed this issue in later models with the introduction of a larger 3.3-liter engine and a revised suspension setup.

The production of the Porsche 930 continued until 1989, with various upgrades and improvements made over the years to keep the car competitive in the high-performance sports car market. In total, around 20,000 units of the 930 were produced, making it a relatively rare and sought-after model among collectors.

The sales of the Porsche 930 were initially strong, with the car appealing to enthusiasts and collectors alike. However, as emissions regulations became stricter in the late 1980s, Porsche faced challenges in maintaining the performance of the 930 while complying with these regulations. This, combined with the introduction of newer models such as the Porsche 964 and 993, eventually led to the discontinuation of the 930 in 1989.

Despite being out of production for over 30 years, the Porsche 930 remains a highly desirable and iconic sports car among automotive enthusiasts. Its distinctive design, high-performance capabilities, and historical significance have solidified its place in Porsche's lineup as a classic and timeless model.
